Welcome to the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club Chess Page

Welcome Chess Players! Our chess program at the West Paterson Boys and Girls Club is in it’s eighth year and the young people of our community seem to enjoy it. Children learn sportsmanship, to plan, react, and make choices, to be cautious, and also sometimes aggressive, and most of all, they have fun doing it. Kindergarten through 8th graders participate, and we get a good size group every year, girls and boys. Join us during the cold winter months on Sunday afternoons, to learn this great sport, and improve with every game played. It’s been said it takes 5 minutes to teach a child to play chess, and a lifetime for them to get better at it.
